"Good-Girl" Eva Mendes in Rehab

Eva Mendes is hardly known for being part of the "bad girl" crowd in Hollywood. However, her recent trip to rehab has landed her in the spotlight of the best gossip. Eva Mendes is a thirty-three year old actress of Cuban-American background. She has starred in many famous movies, including "Training Day" with Denzel Washington, "Hitch" with Will Smith, and "Ghost Rider" with Nicholas Cage. While she is a gifted actress, Eva exclaimed at the Cannes Film Festival in 2007 that she requires a drink in order to feel comfortable during sex scenes, including the seductive scene with Joaquin Phoenix in "We Own the Night".

Eva Mendes joined actress Kirsten Dunst on February 1, 2008 at the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah, located near Sundance. The Center is one of the most respected in the country, and it is also known for treating actress Lindsay Lohan for her drinking and drug issues and Mary-Kate Olsen for her battle with anorexia. Eva Mendes has been in rehab for the past couple weeks and is being treated for a substance abuse problem.

While Mendes's rep does not want to disclose t0o much information about the star, the rep told PEOPLE on Friday that, "Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support. Out of respect for Eva's privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details." Although we do not really know Eva's substance of choice, we give her credit for taking time out of her busy celebrity life to get some help and focus on herself.

Mendes did decide to take a short break from rehab to head back to her home in California. Eva's rep claimed she was taking a short business trip and making a quick visit to see her boyfriend. After business was over, Eva returned back to the Cirque Lodge Treatment Center right away to continue on the road to recovery.

Although she is in rehab right now, later this year, Eva Mendes will star along with Meg Ryan, Annette Bening, Debra Messing, Jada Pinkett-Smith and Bette Midler in a remake of "The Woman". We all give Eva our blessings, and we hope that she can get her substance abuse problem under control. She is one of the best Latino actesses in Hollywood, and we need her to get better and continue what she does best. Good luck Eva.
